Winter is coming as the old(?) adage says. While this may be a negative for some, a positive is also coming. Power Banks! If you guessed that a power bank is a financial institution for superheroes, unfortunately you would be mistaken–but what they actually are is still pretty cool.
A power bank stores a charge (or charges) for USB powered devices, most notably cell phones.
Need to think about power banks practically? Here’s a scenario for you.
You’ve left your house and arrived downtown for a day of errand-running. You’ve got the whole day ahead of you and nowhere to be. The sun is shining, birds are chirping. You’re thinking about grabbing a coffee drink. Maybe a caramel mocha–and today you’re going to say yes! to whipped cream on top. Arguably, it’s the perfect day. Nearby you see a cat doing something hilarious. You know who loves funny cat pictures? Your best friend. So you go to snag a pic with your smart phone and you hear that painful chime–you’re down to 5% battery left. You were supposed to plug it in to charge last night, but you got caught up live Tweeting that TV show and just fell asleep. Now you’re out all day–no calls, no texts, no FACEBOOK!–and, worst of all, you don’t even have enough juice left for even one funny cat pic.
There goes your day? What are you going to do? Call it a day and head home? Sit in your car ‘til your phone is charged? Ask a server at the local bistro to charge it for you? (I hear they really love that, by the way.)
If you’re a savvy errand-runner, you’ve got a power bank. Just plug a USB cable into it, connect it to your phone, and you’re back in business. Snap away! Make that cat a star!
All jokes aside, we’ve all been there. A day out of the house with a dead phone battery is miserable. As much as we hate to admit it, there’s a lot we need those little gadgets for. And sometimes it can be more dire than taking a photo. For a lot of us, your phone is your payment method, your remote workday, your map, or your ticket home. A power bank charger gives people the freedom to burn through that data a little looser. And, depending on the power bank, you might get a few full charges out of the deal.
I can tell you from a personal standpoint that that peace of mind is rewarding. This Spring, I found myself in California for a huge convention. I won’t say what it was…let’s just say it had to do with a galaxy far, far away. Frankly, I’m not a traveller. This was a big trip and I was more than a little nervous about it. But I had my trusty phone in case I got lost, separated from my friends, etc. What could go wrong?
I burned through that battery so fast. Between pictures, videos, texts, and GPS, I suddenly found myself with a dead battery in a big, unfamiliar city. Thankfully, my friend had talked me into picking up a power bank just before the flight. On top of all the memories I could have missed, knowing I had some battery backup was a massive anxiety reliever. I remember thinking This device has to be a staple of conventions. Turns out, I wasn’t far off. Promotional power banks are a very popular giveaway at conventions and expos. Imagine giving a guest this gift at the door–the gift of digital freedom and eased nerves. I don’t know about you, but I would sure hold whomever’s name or logo was emblazoned on it in high regard.
Long story short, power banks are coming to SunPack. The hottest convention SWAG imaginable. The pinnacle of functional souvenirs. And with them, of course, high end packaging, rife with room for your company’s name, logo, and promotional info.
